Playoffs Round 1 - MAY 16 - Games of the Week Reviews

Games on Hellard Field: 5:30 - Bulldogs vs Calgary Chiefs | 7:45 - Cowboys vs Mavericks

GAME 1 – 5:30PM - Bulldogs vs Calgary Chiefs 


A cool evening saw the first game of the Div 1 Quarter finals begin with a quick score on a 30 yd pass & run play to Chiefs #14 WR Darius K., and the convert by #35 K Thatcher J., making it 7-0 Chiefs. After a sack by Chiefs #35 LB Kaydence O. pinning the Bulldogs inside their own 10 the Dogs gave up a safety making it 9-0 Chiefs after one quarter.

After the Chiefs kicked a successful field goal, an unnecessary roughness foul on the Bulldogs gave the Chiefs the ball at the 1 yd line and #10 QB Ethan M., ran it in for the TD. Convert was good making the score Chiefs 16 Bulldogs no score. Bulldogs punter # 46 Scott K., made a valiant effort on a high snap by running it out 16 yards to his own 36. Chiefs QB #10 Ethan M., did the same & ran it 18 yards to the Dogs 16. They scored a TD with #6 RB Eri O., taking it in from the 4. Convert good, making it 23-0 Chiefs. After a 24 yard gain by QB #10 Ethan M., the Chiefs executed a perfect halfback option play with #1 WR Oliver N,. finding #5 WR Austin L., in the endzone. Convert good, Chiefs lead 30-0 at the half.

In the 3rd, a Bulldogs fumble recovered by Chiefs # 45 LB Josh G., led to a 15 yard run to the endzone by #26 FB Santiago B., Convert was good to make it 37-0 Chiefs after 3rd. After a 45 yard punt runback by Bulldogs #25 Jack K., a bad snap and fumble by the Bulldogs was recovered by Chiefs #50 DL Ibrahim T. Bulldogs gave up a safety to complete the scoring.

Final score Chiefs 39  - Bulldogs no score.

Although the Bulldogs couldn’t get anything going on offense, their defense was anchored by #45 LB Sadel K., and #22 LB Moussa A., with 6 tackles each.

Chiefs defensive standout was #35 LB Kaydence O., with 3 tackles and a sack. The Chiefs offence saw #6 RB Eri O., with 60 yards on the ground and a TD, and QB #10 Ethan M., with several long runs and 60 yards through the air.

 

GAME 2 – 7:45PM - Cowboys vs Mavericks
 

The second Quarter final game saw the Cowboys open the scoring on a 40 yard punt by # 33 Massimo P., which he recovered and then ran it to the endzone for a TD. Convert by K #2 Lucas H., made it 7-0 Cowboys. After a 35 yard pass reception & run by #11 WR Will S., a 25 yard pass & run by #14 WR Ty J., for a TD and the convert made it 14-0 Cowboys. Cowboys then recovered their own ensuing kickoff.

Cowboys added to their lead on a 37 yard FG by #2 K Lucas H., making it 17-0 to start the 2nd qtr. After a 40 yard pass reception by Cowboys #82 WR Zack A., to the Mavericks 12, a 10 yard TD catch by #82 Zack A., and the convert made it 24-0 Cowboys at half time. While the 3rd qtr featured several long gains both on the ground & through the air by both teams, no scoring until the 4th qtr. A 20 yard catch for a TD by Mavs # 2 WR Antoine B., with the convert no good rounded out the scoring.

Final was Cowboys 24  - Mavericks 6.

Mavericks defensive standouts were #99 DL Daniel O., with 5 tackles, #16 LB Logan C., with 5 tackles, & # 97 DL Nevis P., with 3 tackles and a sack.

The Cowboys defense was anchored by #85 DL Bennett A., with 3 tackles and a sack, #51 Caleb W., with 4 tackles and a sack, and #44 LB Tyson N., with 4 tackles and an interception. Cowboys offense was led by WR #82 Zack A., with over 100 yards in receiving and a TD.
